Entry #8. Free Time.
In today's world, many of us (all of us) know what Covid-19/the Coronavirus is. We have all, in the biggest or slightest way, have been impacted by it. The truth is, although I knew that it was very real, I personally never thought that I'd be affected by it so much until my family got sick with it (don't worry they are okay!). But now since my family members have it, you know what that means, I have to isolate myself in order to stay safe and healthy. Due to this, I have to stay in my room 99% of the time alone so that means lot's of... you guessed it... free time. But just because I have this "alone time" it doesn't mean that it has to be boring; and of course we can't forget to keep our minds healthy and strong (because it can get lonely). If you are ever in this situation, or are at this moment, and you don't know of any ways on how to stay entertained, I'll help you!
I've had time to think of plenty of ways to keep myself busy, so here are some ideas:
First off, you can never go wrong with watching a movie or shows. Movies are a great form of entertainment and a great way to pass time. Whether or not you're a movie person, I think that exploring new movies can be pretty fun(you might just find a new favorite). Also, there are many different apps to be able to access movies and shows on your phone or on a tv. For example, there is Hulu, Netflix, Disney plus, and the list goes on. There's even a genre for each different style movie that you like, comedy, action, horror, etc. If you have Netflix, I highly recommend watching The Titanic (a classic and one of my favorites) not only is it one of the best movies ever but, it is also very long so it'll be a great way to pass the time!
Next, a nice and relaxing way to spend your time is by reading books. Although I'm usually not interested in reading, it's a great idea to be able to relax your mind. There are also plenty of ways to read books, whether you have a physical copy of a book or you download some on your phone!
In addition, having alone/free time is the perfect opportunity to get creative! For example, I love painting and doing arts and crafts. Not to mention, just the other day I did some research(watched YouTube videos) and taught myself how to sew! It was actually not as hard as I thought it would be, pretty fun, and time consuming. Another good idea is having some coloring books!
Lastly, this time gives as the perfect moment to study for school, catch up on assignments, or even get ahead on assignments. Or, you can finally clean your room!
All in all, alone/free time can be fun! But also, it's good to remember to make the most of each situation and to always keep a positive mindset.
Hello Isabel I loved reading your entry just because how much I could relate to it when I had Covid. Youtube and Netflix were my best friends when I was locked in my room for about three days. I also used it catch up on all my homework and other assignments as well. All in all great entry!
ReplyDeleteHello Isabel, This was a great blog I loved it! It was nice hearing about all of the stuff that you did in order to pass the time. I am a huge movie and show person I am always looking for a good show to binge watch or a new movie to critique. Titanic is one of my favorites as well, she definitely could have moved over to make room for Jack on the floating device I am just saying haha. I love reading books as well, but ever since I started working I haven’t found the time to read; I am slowly getting myself back into it. I am one that is not really creative and artsy fartsy, but I love coloring and painting. Usually I like to get my assignments done sooner than later, and I am actually proud of myself for managing my time a lot better than before so that I can get me assignments turned in on time. I also cleaned my room this weekend for the first time in forever so that felt good. Thank you so much for the insightful suggestions!
ReplyDeleteHello, Isabel, I liked how you explained how to pass free time and not be bored. Also, I liked how you shared your own experience, which was very exciting and relatable.
ReplyDeleteHey Isabel, I like how you spend your free time I sort of spend it the same way, I love reading and watching movies. Being by myself during the pandemic is something I Learned to like a lot, I used to not like being alone and now all I want is to be left alone.
