Entry #1. Blogs.
There are many different types of blogs out there, with even more different categories of topics, and each one has their own unique purpose. Blogs give the perfect opportunity for a person to share information, their experiences, ideas, and thoughts creatively with complete strangers! But after spending some time reading and discovering a few blogs on my own I came to the realization that each blog has it's own intended audience. With that being said, not all of them will spark your interest. Here's a few examples below.
The fist blog that I came across was one on Moz.com. I read a blog titled "How to Calculate Your SEO ROI Using Google Analytics". I have to say that this one was my least favorite. It was more informative and a bit more professional. The only pictures that they had were informative charts. At least it was organized! Overall, the blog was just very plain and boring. But like I said before, not each one will spark your interest. Here's the link so you can see for yourself: https://moz.com/blog/calculate-seo-roi-with-google-analytics.
Next, I discovered a personal blog called "Color Me Courtney". This was more my style! As soon as I entered her blog it immediately caught my attention. Everything was so colorful, vibrant, and organized. Not to mention, the topics that this blog included were based on style/fashion, adventure/travel, lifestyle, and makeup. Which are all things that I am interested in! When I got to reading there were some blogs that included just pictures (there were lots of captivating photos) and links to shop, and there were others that had both words and pictures. Although this blog was very radiant and intriguing for me, I knew very quickly that not everyone would like it. Here, take a look. https://www.colormecourtney.com/ . As you can see, this blog is not something that a boy would be interested in, it is intended for mostly just girls, girly-girls at that. As I continued scanning through the different blogs, I also noticed how much of Courtney's personality you could see, maybe a little too much (for me). Not to mention, I did notice some slight grammar/spelling mistakes.
Lastly, I looked at a blog by a writer named Emma Gannon. This blog was my favorite out of all the ones that I looked at. Instantly I noticed the colors and the theme, the organization, the creativity. This blog was not too personal and not too sophisticated, it was a combination of both a personal and a professional blog. Which I learned are my favorite types of blogs. Anyways, Emma Gannon had a very comforting way of telling stories, I was very surprised to learn that she could share her experiences in an engaging manner where the reader could learn of what she has gone through but also reflect and relate. This is definitely a blog that I recommend looking at!
Sure it's true that I might not be interested in all of them but, all in all, if you ask me how I feel about blogs I'd say: they're GREAT! I would highly suggest looking into some!
I personally feel that the most important aspect of a blog is the layout/format. If there are to many ads or just not very appealing to the eyes I will just skip it all together, But it also can't be bland with no picture or colors.
ReplyDeleteI like colorful blogs as well, and it's the first thing that catches my eye. Emma's blog was also quite unique and different, as you mentioned she had" a very comforting way of telling stories".
ReplyDeleteI really liked the last blog from Emma Gannon that style of blog is definitely my favorite. I love how it is very calming and nice to read and it feels very personal. The way the writer connected to the audience was very nice.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you thinking on how each blog has specificities to appeal to certain groups. I saw various blogs that were well written and eye-catching, but simply did not appeal to me. It doesn't mean they were boring or anything, they were just not for me .
